Tips for Growing a Variegated Peace Lily

Variegated peace lilies are an easy to care for plant and a beautiful addition to any home or office space. Here are some plant care tips to keep your Spathiphyllum healthy and thriving:

  1. Light
Variegated peace lilies prefer bright, indirect light. Place your plant near a window that receives plenty of indirect sunlight, but avoid direct sunlight, as this can scorch the leaves.

  2. Water
Water your variegated peace lily when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. Use room temperature water and avoid overwatering, as this can cause the root rot. Allow the water to drain out of the pot before returning it to its saucer. Peace lilys are not shy about telling you when they need watered and will sometimes wilting their leaves when thirsty.

  3. Humidity
Peace lilies will do fine with a typical household humidity level, but thrive in high humidity environments. You can increase the humidity around your plant by placing it on a tray of pebbles filled with water, or by misting the leaves with water.

  4. Fertilizer
Variegated peace lilies benefit from regular fertilization during the growing season (spring and summer). Use a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer and follow the instructions on the package.

  5. Pruning
Remove any yellow or brown leaves as soon as you notice them. This will help keep your plant looking healthy and prevent the spread of disease.

  6. Repotting
Like most aroids, variegated peace lilies prefer to be slightly root-bound, but if your plant shows signs that its outgrowing its pot, like roots protruding from the bottom, it may be time to repot it. Choose a pot that is one size larger than the current one, and use a well-draining or aroid potting mix.

By following these plant care tips, you can enjoy a beautiful and healthy variegated peace lily for years to come.
